Expanded Local Food and Craft Market for Shepton (05/02/2008 09.12am) Shepton 21 is working to expand Shepton’s Friday market by providing opportunities for the area’s food and craft producers to sell their wares. The new extended market will run from Spring 2008 and is one of a number of initiatives to increase choice, vibrancy and footfall in the Market Place area.
Make an extra effort on the first Friday of every month where you will find award winning producers such as Brown Cow Organics from Pilton amongst others...
Building on the market’s historic origins and the success of local food and craft businesses, it is hoped that the extended market will encourage shoppers to the northern end of the town centre, bringing benefits too for existing shops.
The initiative is complemented by plans for events and fun-days in the Market Place and by the wider restoration and regeneration work taking place in the town centre. Local singer songwriter Bijou will be at the market in August to perfom for the shoppers. The cafes will all be open as well so you can shop until you drop and then enjoy a cup of coffee and naughty cake while Wendy sings for you. Fantastic. Is this really Shepton Mallet?
More information will be available in the coming months. In the meantime, local producers who would like to express their interest can contact the Shepton 21 office.
Editors note.. Brown Cow will be at the weekly market on the second Friday of August and September, back to the first Friday in October.
